Background
The Porlock WRC wastewater recycling centre is operated by Wessex Water and treats a domestic equivalent of 3,700. The existing process at site was an MBR process (Membrane Bioreactor) which required to meet a Flow, BOD, Suspended Solids and Disinfection permit limit.
The Overall Objective
The existing MBR process at the site was built in 1998 and needed major refurbishment. This work required the whole process to be taken off-line. The temporary treatment plant was required to treat the whole of the wastewater (post screens) while the work was carried out maintaining compliance with the existing environmental permit.
Solution
Siltbuster Process Solutions installed three streams at Porlock WRC. Each consisting of an HB50M Lamella Primary Clarifier, MBBR 30 Biological Treatment Unit and D25 Secondary DAF to treat the whole flow to a standard that allowed polishing via temporary tidal storage and UV (by others) before discharge.
