Background
Alveston Water Recycling Centre treats domestic sewage from the village of Alveston near Thornbury in Gloucestershire. The works consisted of preliminary treatment (screens, grit removal), primary settlement followed by trickling filters and humus settlement prior to discharge.
The Overall Objective
The existing pair of conjoined Primary Settlement Tanks were in need of internal refurbishment and having the access bridges across replaced. Both needed to be taken off-line at the same time to enable the works to be undertaken safely and efficiently.
Solution
Siltbuster Process Solutions worked closely with Wessex Water to provide a suitable and robust temporary settlement system for Alveston Water Recycling Centre. Two SPS HB50M lamella settlement units were supplied and installed, each complete with auto-timer controlled de-sludge skid, to successfully provide the entire site primary settlement capacity for the duration of the refurbishment works.
