Background
Sirius Group were carrying out remediation work on a construction site in Bolton. The site had a history of contamination and as a result of excavation work carried out and a series of heavy storms.
The Overall Objective
The surface water runoff at the Bolton remediation site became contaminated with free phase and dissolved hydrocarbons. Sirius required a suitable water treatment system that would settle the solids and remove the floating oils.
Solution
Siltbuster were able to deploy a multi-stage treatment system at short notice which could instantaneously treat 6m³ of polluted water. The water was pumped into a Siltbuster HB50-OWS where the solids were removed from suspension and capture the floating oils.
The treatment system prevented polluted water from escaping the site and reduced the frequency of backwashing their carbon vessel, removing the need to dispose of at high costs.
