Background
Kier Construction are carrying out improvement works to widen the carriageway on the A30 between Temple and Higher Carblake to deal with major congestion in the area.
The Overall Objective
As part of the A30 Improvement Scheme a number of on-site lagoons were created to deal with surface water run off. The on-site water contains slow settling solids and the discharge consent for the area is to ensure the Total Suspended Solids (TSS) content is less than 30mg/l and the pH is between 6 and 9.
Solution
Siltbuster installed a 3 stage chemical treatment system consisting of a Mix Tank and a HB50 to treat 20m³/hr plus a monitoring system to ensure the TSS and pH levels were correct before discharge.
The system was able to reduce the TSS from 144mg/l.
