Oil Water Separators
Siltbuster has developed a range of transportable oil water separators to meet your particular project requirements.
Hydrocarbons are commonly encountered on construction sites in the form of petroleum based substances such as petrol, diesel, kerosene and oils (engine, lubricants, mineral etc). Siltbuster’s mobile Oil Water Separators offer a simple readily available means of removing free ﬂoating oil and light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPLs) from water through separation by flotation. Siltbuster have two types of dedicated OWS available for hire and sale:
Coalescing Media Oil Water Separator: The CM400 utilises an oleophilic media technology which allows operation at higher flow rate for LNAPL separation. This coalescing media works by providing a surface for globules as small as 20 microns to attach to and combine together to form larger globules. These larger particles then overcome the surface adhesion and float rapidly to the surface.
Lamella Plate (inclined plate) Oil Water Separators: These simultaneously separate LNAPLs of 60 microns and larger by flotation and remove settleable solids and dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs) which sink and are collected in the base before being drawn off. The ﬂat bottomed FB50-OWS model is typically employed where the suspended solids/DNAPL concentrations are low whereas the hopper bottom HB50-OWS model, suits cases where higher suspended solids/DNAPL concentrations are envisaged. The HB50-OWS has a greater sludge storage volume and if the option for continuous on-line removal of solids.
