Jaguar Landrover Manufacturing Plant

Client:Vinci Construction

Background

Jaguar Landrover were building a new engine manufacturing plant at Wolverhampton. Vinci were asked to conduct widespread lime stabilisation of contaminated clay ground ahead of the main build.

The Overall Objective

A large flat area of clay with no drain runs was lime stabilised to prepare for the building. Heavy rains and multiple plant movements through standing water caused a huge water treatment head ache for Vinci. The clay particles were very slow settling and meant water could not be pumped off the site. The lime stabilisation also cause high alkaline pH conditions.

Solution

Siltbuster visited the site to plan the works and establish correct treatment requirements in terms of flow and contaminant removal.

Water was pumped to a holding lagoon and then through a 3-stage pH correction and chemical dosing mix tank, then through Siltbuster lamella clarifier units.
