Background

Hinkley Point C nuclear power station is a proposal to construct a 3,200 MWe nuclear power station with two EPR reactors in Somerset, England.

The Overall Objective

During works there was the requirement to treat waters with coagulant and flocculant before safe discharge.

Solution

At peak there were 5 Chemical Dosing Systems in use at one time and dealing with flow rates of up to 600m³/hr.

The system monitored the inflow of water and only dosed with chemical when required. In addition to this the out flow was monitored to ensure the treated water remained within the parameters set before safe discharge.
