Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre

Client:Vinci Constrcution
Total Suspended Solids:below 30mg/l
pH Level:6-9

Background

Vinci are building the Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre which will provide electricity for 21,000 homes in the region. The combined heat and power facility will generate 16.6 megawatts of electricity and divert 90% of Cornwall’s residual waste away from landfill.

The Overall Objective

Siltbuster were tasked with dealing with treating surface runoff from site in to the surface water course where Trout are present.

Solution

Previously a Floc Block system was installed onsite but a more efficient and reliable solution was required to ensure the discharge criteria was met.

Siltbuster provided a Two Stage Chemical Treatment System alongside a Siltbuster HB50 at short notice, which enabled Vinci to achieve a TSS of below 30mg/l and pH between 6 – 9 before being safely discharged to the surface water course.
