Background

In Blackhillock, Moray, Scotland Bam Nuttall are carrying out the construction of a new £120m electricity substation scheduled for completion in 2019. This will be a major reinforcement of the transmission network serving the north of Scotland, enabling proposed wind, wave and tidal generation sites to connect.

The Overall Objective

As work was carried out, topsoil’s were stripped and left exposed to rainfall and surface water runoff. Excavations quickly began to fill with water and clay from the surrounding landscape and required chemical treatment before being released off site.

Solution

Two Siltbuster chemical dosing units were deployed and commissioned at short notice allowing site to continue with the work with little disruption.
