SPS help GETRAG Ford Transmissions solve an effluent treatment problem
Siltbuster Process Solutions (SPS) recently assisted GETRAG Ford Transmissions at its Halewood plant in resolving a potentially difficult and costly effluent treatment problem. A solution was required to treat production effluent that had become contaminated, and could not be treated at the site’s own effluent treatment plant. It was therefore being contained for transport and treatment off-site.
SPS were engaged to assess options, and following initial assessment and completion of laboratory testwork on a quick turnaround, SPS supplied a mobile lamella Dissolved Air Flotation system complete with pumping and chemical pre-treatment equipment.
This enabled the client to treat all the contaminated material to the required standard, enabling compliant discharge to sewer, and cessation of off-site tankering operations. The performance and relative simplicity of the system impressed the site so much that they continued to use it to treat normal production effluent in preference to the more complex and sometimes problematic existing site effluent treatment system.
The client chose to purchase the equipment, which is now installed as its interim effluent treatment system, until a revamped facility is expected to be built in the next 2 years.
Ian Miller, Plant Engineer for GETRAG Ford Transmissions comments ‘We were impressed by how quickly SPS mobilised themselves to identify and implement a robust technical solution, which proved itself to be both incredibly effective and cost efficient’.
Clwyd Jones, SPS’ Business Development Manager comments ‘GETRAG Ford Transmissions were very clear what they wanted, namely a compliant discharge via the normal route as soon and as cost effectively as possible. Through working well together, a solution was quickly implemented that achieved this aim. We are very pleased to have helped GETRAG Ford Transmissions with their immediate problem, whilst at the same time providing a viable longer term solution’.Back
