Ynysangharad Park Redevelopment

Client:Kier Construction
Month / Year:Jan-current 2016

Background

Kier Construction are carrying out a £6.2m scheme to redevelop the open air swimming pool at Ynysangharad Park in Pontypool. The pool was originally built in 1927 and is the only listed lido to survive in Wales. The work for Rhondda Cynon Taf council aims to attract over 30,000 people to use the pool annually.

The Overall Objective

The project was carried out during the summer months. Due to large, open and deep excavations, areas onsite quickly filled with sediment rich ground water and required safe removal from site for the work to continue.

Solution

Siltbuster deployed its HB50 settlement unit with an added Flocc Block as the water was clay laden and required chemical treatment. With the addition of the dissolvable Flocc block, even the clay sized solids were successfully removed from suspension, allowing the water to be safely discharged offsite.
