M1, Junction 19 Construction

Client:Skanska

Background

Skanska were tasked with constructing a new bridleway connecting Swinford and Catthorpe via the River Avon.

The Overall Objective

The works involved creating a new bridleway and earthworks to several of the bends in the river to improve flow and provide ecological refuge. The river was the most environmental sensitive area of the scheme, and so alkaline concrete washwater could not enter into the local ecosystem as it is an abstraction source for drinking water further downstream and home to a wide variety of fauna and flora; including a family of otters.

Solution

Siltbuster installed its RCW unit to deal with the concrete washout and ensure any water discharged would not harm the local wildlife.
