Heathrow Airport Road Construction

Client:Galldris Construction / Balfour Beatty
Discharge Point:Surface Water Drain

Background

Heathrow Airport is the UK’s premier international airport where some 80 airlines fly direct to over 180 destinations worldwide. During improvement works to repair and upgrade a main perimeter road, excavations were dug in the central reservations for work to be carried out.

Due to work being carried out in close proximity to a local canal and also the area having a high water table, the excavations quickly filled with solid laden water.

The Overall Objective

With the ingression of water at multiple locations, numerous pumps were required to continually dewater the working area but further required a treatment system able to deal with the solid laden water.

Solution

Siltbuster initially provided an FB50 settlement unit to address a single section however, off the back of its success 3 more were hired to ensure the waters being discharged to the surface water drain were of a suitable quality.
