Background
Garston Gasworks were known for producing carburetted water gas, with coal gas being produced from 1921. The works later had an oil pipeline to the docks.
the works has not been in use since 2008 and was due to be decontaminated and demolished to make space for redevelopment in the area.
The Overall Objective
Erith Contractors were tasked with dewatering 2 gasholder basins to allow for decontamination of the site and subsequent removal of the existing structures in place. The site would then be backfilled and used for redevelopment.
Solution
Siltbuster provided Erith with their FB50 plus a CM400 to dewater the Garston Gasworks site and settle mineral solids before discharging the water safely to the surrounding environment.
